Event - The official autumn kick-off party of Clubtallinn featuring Tanel Padar. In fact I was long before booked to shoot at another club (Pattaya) this night, but once I heard of this party, I immediately wanted to switch. I couldn't prearrange anything though, apparently there was some miscommunication going on, unanswered e-mails etc, so all I knew was that I would not be able to get in. Nevertheless, I decided to check it out just in case and waddaya know, I met the organizers at the door and they were nice enough to let me in anyway:) As I had expected, the place was absolutely jam-packed and Tanel Padar absolutely rocked the place. I kept looking at my watch and was sorry to leave way before the party ended, but since I had promised to actually attend a completely different party that night, I had no choice.

Photography - I don't know what came over me, but I shot almost the whole concert with flash. Maybe it was the pressure to get some usable pics fast and then move on to the other party, but I completely forgot to use my beloved F2.8 Tamron and the F1.8 50mm Canon lenses for those low-light stage and crowd pics I usually prefer.

With flash, I will have to switch to 2nd curtain sync when shooting action and mixing flash with a wide aperture and high ISO. Some of the onstage action seems to be moving backwards because of 1st curtain sync. I tried to mix in some ambient lights, but since the stage was black, Tanel and his bandmates were all dressed in black and there weren't any stage lights to speak of, it wasn't easy to do. Maybe that's also why the pics ended up very contrasty?
