Event - Red Bull X-fighters, a freestyle motocross event with Nick Franklin and Chris Birch. To be honest, the portraits at the beginning of the gallery are from another event that took place a few hours earlier, but since I had no other place to put them, I thought I'd put them here.

Photography - I was in trouble way over my head. Motorcycles jumping against a pitch black sky? With no lighting to speak of? This was clearly a 70-200mm and preferably a 30D or even a Mark II camera event. I was seriously underequipped with my few primes and the 350D. The 350D had trouble finding and keeping focus, the AI servo focusing was all over the place, the 580EX flash kept firing at full force even at ISO 1600 / F1.8 only to always skip the next 2-3 shots (I don't have the external battery pack), the 3 FPS of the 350D was way too slow... I could feel the sweat on my forehead:) I can assure you that the original non-processed pictures look absolutely horrific - like something out of a cheap compact digital camera.
