Jaanus Orgussaar Fashion Show, Sept 2006Event - A special event for the most valued clients (I guess those who've spent the most recently) of a local department store. First up the new autumn clothing lines in store and then a fashion show by a talented fashion designer Jaanus Orgussaar. I had no itentions of going (I'm still trying to take a break from photography) but when my friends call me for help to come cover the event, I find it hard to refuse.
Photography - Mostly a Canon 85mm F1.8 affair. I've come to the conclusion that a F2.8 70-200mm lens is not a suitable option on a 350D. The iffy low-light focus ability of the 300D/350D line of cameras doesn't justify using any of the more expensive wide aperture lenses on it. Even the superb 85mm F1.8 has trouble nailing the focus on the 350D and I had to sell the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 lens since I got fed up with its inability to provide proper and reliable focusing in low-light situations. My stance may change when and if I move up to a 400D (since that is Canon's first entry-level camera to have the double-precision center point focusing comparable to 20D/30D), but for now I'll stay away from a F2.8 70-200mm lens.
