Triin Tisler placed 4th in the younger category with 41 jury points. The few shots with empty seats in them were taken during the main reharsal. I didn't take too many rehearsal shots though since I spent most of that time backstage. Katrina Kaubi won in the younger category with 80 jury points.

Event - "Supernoova" is the premiere competition of young Estonian fashion designers. The competition is divided into two categories - younger (high school students) and older (college students and pros). See comments below pictures to find out which designs won and how the rest of them did. For last year's gallery, check out "Supernoova 2006".

Photography - Since I've never cared much for posing and zooming, I overwhelmingly prefer the backstage gallery to this one, since there is where the people are relaxed, natural and I can actually connect with them (and have them connect with the camera). However, since fashions shows are mostly about the catwalk, I didn't have much choice but to take some of those kinds of pictures as well - along with all the other photographers. Thankfully the freeform and personal nature of backstage shooting makes the cold monotony of main show shooting worth it many times over.

I still don't have a low-light zoom and I probably never will, as long as I stay with the 350D. I am now quite certain - although primes work ok (even at F1.4), low-light zooms are unusable on my camera body. I sold my Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 about a year ago thinking it was a dud, but when I found out the Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 focused just as badly or even worse (whereas it was fine on other camera bodies), I can no longer blame the lenses. Left without a low-light zoom, all I can do is try to pick a prime with the most suitable focal length and fire away. This time it ended up being the Canon 85mm F1.8. Some shots ended up being too cropped and some I had to crop myself, but at least I got something.
